In the quest to clean out the primary bedroom the hard yards have been completed….the clothes have been culled or cleaned and repaired and the closet and dresser drawers have been organized. We’ve gone through the dark corners.
So… we are down to the last touches again. We need to make sure that clutter is cleaned off of horizontal surfaces. All window ledges and picture frames should be wiped and dusted (and believe me there is dust on the picture frames!). Any walls that have marks need scrubbing. Trim around doors and windows and any molding needs to be wiped as well.
Through this bedroom Hogmanay process there are things that I’ve pulled out but not sure that I want to donate or discard yet and would like to a little time to contemplate their ultimate fate. But I have to be careful not to tuck them back into an area that has already been Hogmanay cleaned. This means NOT back into the corner in the bedroom where they were hiding or back into the kitchen! There are travel books I want to think about before I decide to keep or get rid of. I can still dream after all! In an act of cowardice I have moved them to a book case in the hall. That way I will have some consideration time. But I do know that I will have to make a decision when I get to that zone. It kicks the decision down the road, but that’s okay if I’m not hiding things away in a zone that has already been dealt with. If I just recycle back into the previously cleaned area then I am just rotating a circle of clutter and not accomplishing anything!
(P.S. I did find a spoon in a “work” bag which clearly missed being cleaned out properly, so that was washed and put back into circulation in the flatware drawer.)
