Final Push

Nearing the end now.

The big work has been completed with the appliance cleaning!  But we’re not done yet.

For me, there is the dish and stemware cupboard.  It is a lovely glass door cabinet with interior lights.  Because it is always in view and nothing can be “hidden” it does keep me mindful not to clutter it up.  Looking at it objectively though it’s aesthetic is being pressed and clutter is creeping in!

In order to see where all the glass needs cleaning this is best done on a sunny day.  The winter sun streaming low through the south facing windows is the ideal time to do this.  And if the sun is shining it means I’m not out shovelling snow!

Again…everything out.  Look at it.  Touch it.  Do I use this?  Did I use this?  Does it deserve a space here?  How many of these mugs do I use before I run the dishwasher?  How easy is it to get at the things I use most?  This space needed some streamlining.  I shouldn’t be stacking mugs up two high.  Since I like a large cup of coffee the smaller mugs are almost never used so why hang on to them? And how many casserole dishes does one person need?  As my kids have grown up and moved out I need to be thinking smaller.  Leftovers day after day become unappealing so I should be cooking in smaller batches.  Downsize some of those casserole dishes too.  Feeling lighter already.

Spic and span and sparkling!
